To celebrate Harrow\u2019s 450th Anniversary, <\/span>AISL Harrow Beijing<\/span> organised a series of activities under the theme of Service. Students were encouraged to connect closely with the wider community and give back to society by applying what they’ve learned at school.<\/span><\/p>

Let\u2019s take a look at some of their activities!<\/span><\/p>

Thank you to the ‘Lovely People’<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 5 students helped clean up and served tea to our Ayis. Year 2 children performed a charming song for them. As a school we would like to express our gratitude to our colleagues who work tirelessly to make sure we have a clean and tidy school environment.<\/span><\/p>

Bring and Buy Books for Charity<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Lower School students ran book stalls for two days. Children brought used books for sale. It was a huge success and raised substantial funds for charity.<\/span><\/p>

Gardening for a Beautiful Campus<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Year 5 students collaborated with Early Years children to plant flowers and add a touch of green to the campus. Through taking care of the environment, they developed a sense of responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 6 students organised an appreciation celebration for the service staff, including the Ayis, maintenance, administration, security staff and others. Students learned about them, shadowed their jobs and hosted an entertainment event to recognise and appreciate these staff, who are an integral part of the school.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 7 students studied the school on how it can be more sustainable and greener. They designed an outdoor classroom space and planted trees, flowers and avegetable plot. The students will monitor the growth through out the year. They worked collaboratively in small teams with communication and time\u00a0 management being critical as well as an increased awareness of how important it is to preserve greenspaces locally and globally. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Year 10 worked on a community project led by the John Lyon Students in Year 12. The goal of the project is to provide a library for the children of Hegezhuang village. The students were challenged to create a conceptual design for that space. They researched different styles of library furniture and suppliers, including sourcing and budgeting. They also reviewed local book suppliers, book stock, and the future management of books and the library. They made useful additions to the library such as designing and creating book ends, making jigsaws and painting artwork in LSA projects. The winning proposal will be the basis of Harrow Hegezhuang Village Library.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
