A Combined British and American Curriculum to Enhance Global Competitiveness
In January 2025, Harrow Shanghai celebrated the Seal Conferment Ceremony, marking the deep connection between the AISL Harrow Schools and Harrow’s esteemed 453-year heritage in the UK. On this special occasion, Harrow International School Shanghai proudly announced the launch of Advanced Placement (AP) courses, becoming the first international school in Shanghai to adopt a “British-American Combined Curriculum” model.
The initiative addresses the diverse educational needs of families aiming for US university admissions, thereby expanding students’ opportunities and enhancing their global competitiveness. By merging the rigorous British curriculum (IGCSE and A-Level) with the flexibility of the American system, which includes AP courses and SAT preparation, students will be better prepared for academic challenges and have access to a wide range of top universities around the world.
Highlights of Harrow Shanghai’s AP Courses:
The newly introduced AP courses cover seven subjects:
- Calculus AB
- Calculus BC
- English Literature and Composition
- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- U.S. Government and Politics
These courses complement the A-Level curriculum while also expanding into broader areas of knowledge. Recognised by all US universities, AP courses allow students to earn college credits and gain competitive edge in the university application process.
