AISL Harrow LiDe Schools

Our Uniquely Innovative Approach

A high-quality Harrow LiDe education provides students with the international qualifications, language, knowledge and personal attributes required to thrive as a learner, an individual and a leader in schools, world-leading universities and throughout the rest of their lives.

An innovative approach to pedagogy and pastoral care ensures students learn in a manner that promotes the Harrow School’s Values, leadership attributes and holistic approach to education synonymous with Harrow School in the UK and all AISL Harrow schools.

The academic model has been carefully crafted so that it harnesses the strength and rigour of education in China and instils a deep understanding of Chinese heritage, culture, tradition and language.

It will benefit our students in four key domains, namely:

A. Academic Excellence

A choice of world leading international universities, in either language, because of excellent GCSE and A level qualifications

B. Bilingualism

Fluency in English and native level Putonghua

C. Chinese culture and identity

Passion for the history, traditions and culture of China

D. Development

Values, character and talent to thrive as an individual and leader

Three founding pillars

The learning and development consist of three founding pillars:

Learning within the School Environment

  • Founded on AISL Harrow’s customised pedagogy which is research informed and specially designed for Chinese students.
  • A through-train EY to High School educational offering that comprises the Little Lions Curriculum, the Harrow LiDe Curriculum (referencing CNC) and the High School Curriculum that promotes entry to the world’s leading universities.
  • Bilingualism focused, benefiting students for life to travel globally.
  • Fidelity to CNC, and when necessary or as selected, undertaking district and province/municipality assessments, supported by the AISL extended Chinese language and literature curriculum, Chinese culture, and thematic projects.

Out-of-Classroom Learning

  • Our extensive Co-Curricular Activities Programmes are not ‘extra’ as they are an expectation as we believe vital learning takes place outside of the classroom. These programmes broaden horizons, instil a sense of adventure, and foster leadership attributes.
  • Academic learning is therefore supported by an extensive range of activities, societies, and events.
  • The personalised approach ensures that we also know about the student’s life outside of school: we celebrate students’ successes, and they know that they are well prepared for different challenges.

Boarding Experience & Pastoral Care

  • Being a boarder is the most authentic way to experience a Harrow education which develops independence, self-discipline and confidence.
  • Boarders benefit from being part of a community, from learning to live alongside others, and from having world-class facilities right on their doorstep.
  • Allows for extended learning opportunities as boarders can choose from a range of additional sporting, academic, creative and well-being activities that help them to develop new and existing skills, support their mental health, and interact with peers from other Houses – all the while being continually supported by the AISL education team.
  • Further supported by Harrow’s Pastoral Care and House System through which, we offer each student personalised care, support and guidance. This personalised pastoral support is centred on the ‘home room’ in the Lower School and the ‘House’ in the Upper School.
  • Pastoral care underpins our students’ entire experience of AISL Harrow Schools and results in safe, academically successful and fulfilled students. We work closely with parents and carers to support every child on their journey to successful adulthood.

Curriculum

Together with our unique pedagogical approach, we holistically cultivate children’s creative thinking and teamwork ethic and ensure all younger learners achieve rounded and balanced personal development, applying what they learn to their daily lives.

SENIOR PHASE AND SIXTH FORMS (Age 15 -17)

In senior school, the curriculum is designed to prepare students for life at university and beyond. This includes access to rigorous international qualifications: A Level, the gold standard internationally and recognised by leading universities across the world.

In this phase of the school, students study a number of A Level subjects. These courses are considered to be an academically rigorous preparation for university study.
