“How Can We Help?” A simple yet powerful question from the teachers at Harrow Shanghai.
Diagnosed with Bruck Syndrome, a rare disorder with only 40 known cases worldwide, I faced rejection from many schools in Shanghai. It was challenging to find a place where I felt accepted. When we first arrived at Harrow Shanghai, our teachers sat down with my family and listened to our needs.
My mum once shared, “Harrow Shanghai is a school that truly listens. During the admissions interview, the Head Master was genuinely attentive. It’s a wonderful school—one that offered my son the opportunity he deserved.”
This is where I find my voice.
I used to experience selective mutism during my early years. My tutor at Harrow Shanghai made it his personal mission to help me find my voice. The teachers were warm and kind, encouraging me to step outside my comfort zone. In 2019, I reached a significant milestone by greeting my friend. It brought me immense relief, happiness, and calmness that I hadn’t felt in years.
This marked the beginning of my journey of transformation and empowerment.

Leadership is about serving others.
Harrow taught me that leadership is not only about doing something huge; it’s about serving others; even small acts of service can make a significant impact.
As a House Captain and a member of the School Council, I organised activities such as Spanish language workshops. The teachers and students treated me equally, allowing me to lead, contribute, and make a positive difference.
At AISL Harrow Schools, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to discover who they are and who they can become. Through a nurturing environment and a commitment to personal growth, we empower students like Haoran to chase their dreams and make a difference.
