Harrow
Hong Kong Children School
Shenzhen Qianhai

In furthering its vision to promote “Educational Excellence for Life and Leadership” and its commitment to nurture global talents for the Greater Bay Area, Asia International School Limited (“AISL”) officially announces its fourth school in the Greater Bay Area–– Harrow Hong Kong Children School Shenzhen Qianhai. The school incorporates the forward-looking educational approach practised by other AISL Harrow schools in the region, as well as its leading resources and expertise grown over 25 years of experience in K-12 international education in Asia. Students will benefit from AISL’s Holistic Education––a 450-year-old heritage from Harrow School in the UK adapted to today’s students’ needs––while also providing a wide range of options for further education.

The new school follows the Hong Kong curriculum and offers diverse tertiary education routes including DSE and IB, alongside AISL’s existing K-12 kindergarten to Senior School curricula, IGCSE and A-Levels programmes, and nine-year compulsory bilingual curriculum. All this contributes to the strategic goal of fostering top global talent for the Greater Bay Area. Leveraging the extensive resources in the Greater Bay Area, the school is set to become an educational hub focusing on STEAM, cutting-edge innovation, and trilingual education (Cantonese, Mandarin, and English). Harrow Hong Kong Children School Shenzhen Qianhai will open its doors in September 2023, catering to the children of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, expatriates, overseas Chinese, and returning talents (working in Qianhai Cooperation Zone) aged 2 to 18.

MULTIPLE PATHWAYS TOWARDS TOP UNIVERSITIES IN HK & BEYOND

At Harrow Hong Kong Children School Shenzhen Qianhai, students from Early Years to Year 9 are taught the Hong Kong curriculum, in line with its positioning as a Greater Bay Area school. For Year 10 to 12, students can opt for one of various education routes, including DSE and IB. The school is committed to nurturing well-rounded talents with stellar academic and extracurricular performance who are sought after by top universities in Hong Kong, mainland China, and around the world.

In recent years, Hong Kong universities have risen to become some of the most prestigious educational institutions in Asia and around the globe. For example, the University of Hong Kong is ranked 21st in the QS World University Rankings 2023, the Chinese University of Hong Kong is ranked 38th, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology also made it into the top 40. In terms of subjects, the Faculty of Dentistry, the University of Hong Kong (placed 2nd globally), and the MBA course of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology were among the top-ranked in the world. To meet the rising demand by families in the Greater Bay Area for admission into prestigious universities in Hong Kong, Harrow Hong Kong Children School Shenzhen Qianhai offers a new option of K-12 Hong Kong education.

FIRST-CLASS FACULTY, SPECIALISING IN HONG KONG CURRICULUM

The prestige of AISL Harrow Schools enables us to select the cream of the crop as our faculty members. Candidates undergo several rounds of interviews and rigorous background checks. The board members of Harrow School in the UK are also involved in interviews of head masters and head mistresses. As with other AISL Harrow Schools, Harrow Hong Kong Children School Shenzhen Qianhai will be inspected regularly by the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) for external audits of its teaching quality. The AISL and UK Harrow School delegation will also visit the school to ensure it conforms to Harrow standards.

The leadership and teaching teams of the school are selected according to Harrow’s global screening standards, with particular emphasis on experience with the Hong Kong curriculum and DSE and IB. The head of the school has many years of experience managing a Band-1 school in Hong Kong and has led the design of the Liberal Studies Curriculum for the Hong Kong Education Bureau. The faculty boasts diverse teaching experience in Hong Kong and mainland China. All teachers are certified, with most coming from Hong Kong, and hold advanced degrees as well as various professional diplomas and certificates.

A FUTURE-PROOF SCHOOL NURTURING DIGITAL TALENTS AND INNOVATIONS THAT PREPARES LEADERS OF TOMORROW
The Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area is a region known for its innovative drive and diversity. With this in mind, the school is committed to nurturing self-motivated students with a global vision and a spirit to excel. Through a variety of interdisciplinary programmes that integrate STEAM and innovative elements, students can expand their thinking skills, knowledge, and interests, while developing a versatile, competitive edge that equips them for future trends and encourages creative problem solving.
BI-LITERATE & TRILINGUAL
Every student will become trilingual with proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. With exceptional language skills, they will be able to learn more about and integrate into the diverse and multicultural environment of the Greater Bay Area, thus broadening their knowledge and horizons. In the future, this will also be an invaluable asset for living, working, and building connections in the Greater Bay Area.
HOLISTIC EDUCATION THAT BENEFITS CHILDREN FOR LIFE

As with every AISL Harrow School, Harrow Hong Kong Children Shenzhen Qianhai maintains a close relationship with and embodies the time-honoured heritage of Harrow School in the UK. Its Holistic Education is centered on the values of “Courage, Honour, Humility, and Fellowship”. On top of academic excellence, the school emphasises on fostering values and leadership skills among its students that will benefit them for life, driving them to translate their kindness and talents into good deeds that make the world a better place.

PERSONALISED LEARNING
Personalised education plans will be tailored for each student to ensure they reach their full potential. Through the House System and Pastoral Care adopted from Harrow School in the UK, International Harrovians will thrive in a “student-centric” learning environment. From the start of their journey at Harrow, every student will have a personalised growth plan. Every school phase involves scientific assessment and close partnership with parents from which teachers can understand students’ needs whether it be psychological, in terms of their studies or development of their interests. This is a true practice of “differentiated teaching”, where flexible adjustments can be made to the future education or growth plans of students from stage to stage.
LEARNING BEYOND CLASSROOMS
Quality education imparts students with both hard and soft skills and inner values that benefit them in their studies and personal life. Outside the classroom, students can participate in the Co-Curricular Activities Programme, in STEAM, sports, art, charity, natural exploration, and many other areas. These are great opportunities to expand their knowledge, and hone their character and judgment skills, which will go a long way as they progress in life.
